Live Smart, Eat Local Tour Returns to Kangnam BBQ

On Wednesday, February 25th at 7:00pm, Kangnam BBQ Bar & Grill will be hosting the second event in this monthly series designed to support local businesses and promote community. The featured speaker is State Senator James Rosapepe of the 21st District, who will be discussing the current legislative session in Annapolis. Kangnam BBQ, which opened in October 2014, offers traditional Korean food, sushi, and much more. The restaurant is located at 8503 Baltimore Avenue.

halal butcher and grocer opens in Hollywood

Open since last week, Star Halal Meat and African Grocery is a family-owned butcher shop providing authentic West African products and halal meat. The family opened their first location in Takoma Park and decided to pursue a second location in the Hollywood Commercial District along Rhode Island Avenue. Their butcher shop carries a selection of beef, chicken, goat, and lamb that can be cut to the customer’s specification. Additionally, they have a charcoal grill onsite, where they’ll cook any meat purchased for patrons and serve it with rice and a spicy sauce. Beyond halal meet, the store carries dried spices, herbs, seasonings, palm oil, clothes, and other daily items.

Star Halal is located at 4936 Edgewood Road in the shopping plaza with A-1 Pawn and New York Deli.
