As the weather finally warms up that signals the arrival of fresh produce and the opening of farmers market season. The City actively supports two markets, the Downtown College Park Farmers Market on Sundays and the Hollywood Farmers Market on Saturdays. Both markets feature close to 20 vendors with a wide variety of good produced in the Washington, DC region.
Celebrating its fifth year in operation, the Downtown market is set to open on Sunday, April 12th from 10:00am to 2:00pm. The market features original vendors in Bill’s Backyard BBQ and Miller Farms, which are now joined by more than 20 other vendors offering products including artisan bread, cheese, crafts, crepes, fudge, meat, pickles, root beer, spices, tacos, wine, and much more. Most weeks at the market feature live music from Birds on a Wire between 11:00am and 1:00pm, while other events throughout the season include cooking demos, community tables, wellness seminars, and free massages.
Located in north College Park, the Hollywood market is opening on Saturday, April 25th from 9:00am to 1:00pm for its third season. Started by community members, the market is conveniently located next MOM’s Organic Market and features a range of vendors offering products including artisan bread, cheese, coffee, crepes, honey, jewelry, meat, pickles, vegetarian dishes, and much more.
