If that’s the case you will be glad to know the City issued a Request for Bid Proposals to demolish these two vacant buildings last week. After receiving a grant through the State of Maryland’s Community Legacy Program in 2012 to demolish blighted properties along Route 1, the City has signed agreements with the property owners of 9091 Baltimore Avenue and 9339 Baltimore Avenue to remove these eyesores. Bid proposals are due by September 9th and the City is aiming to select a contractor later that month with demolition to follow before the end of the year.
At 9091 Baltimore Avenue, Metropolitan Development Group is expected to construct a mixed-use development with 228 apartments, 55 for-sale townhomes, and just under 4,000 SF of retail on the 4.4-acre site. The property has sat vacant for several years following the failed redevelopment by a prior company. While there is no such development scheduled for 9339 Baltimore Avenue, the former waterbed store has been vacant for several years and would remain that way without the City’s assistance.
Excited to see these buildings disappear from the Route 1 Corridor?
