Green Line Service Resumes, Fort Totten to Anacostia Only

Metro today announced the restoration of limited service on Metrorail and Metrobus as the region digs out from the historic Blizzard of 2016. The Metrorail system will open at 7 a.m. with limited underground service on the Red, Orange and Green lines as follows:

  • Orange Line: Ballston to Eastern Market only
  • Red Line: Medical Center to Union Station only
  • Green Line: Fort Totten to Anacostia only

At the start of service, trains will run every 20-25 minutes. Service levels may be upgraded as conditions allow. The system will remain open until midnight. Fares will not be charged on Metrorail on Monday, January 25. Read More…

Warming Centers Available During Blizzard

The O.E.M. in collaboration with the Prince George’s County Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission encourages residents without heat, who and are in need of relief from the cold temperatures, to utilize one of the following local warming centers.  Residents are encouraged to call each facility to obtain hours of operation. Free Parking at City & Metro Garages This Weekend

Metro has announced free parking in Metro garages this weekend until 9:00 AM Monday morning.

In addition , there will be free parking in the College Park municipal garage (above Ledo’s , entrance  on Yale Ave ) beginning 12:00 PM noon today, Friday, until 09:00 AM Monday.

Local residents may move their cars to these garages to get off City streets to allow more room for plows.

Aviation Museum Launches New Lecture Series

This Wednesday, the College Park Aviation Museum will launch their new Brown Bag Lunch & Learn Lecture Series. The event takes place on the second Wednesday of each month at 12pm, and lasts for approximately 30 minutes. Each month will feature a different topic and discussion. GREEN LINE: Buses replace trains at Greenbelt Station, 7 a.m. Saturday until closing Sunday
Throughout the weekend, Green Line service will operate at regular weekend intervals between College Park and Branch Ave stations. On Saturday and Sunday, no trains will run between College Park & Greenbelt to allow for construction of a new test track to accept Metro’s new fleet of 7000-series railcars. Free shuttle buses will run between College Park and Greenbelt.
