Battle of Bladensburg Festival: 200 years in the making

Battle of Bladensburg Festival 

 Saturday, August 23rd from 11am- 9:30pm.  Bladensburg Waterfront Park. 

Commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the march across Prince George’s County and the Battle of Bladensburg with a day full of reenactments, historical tours, food, and family fun.

The event kicks off at 11am with the dedication of the monument “Undaunted in Battle”  at Monument Park. The ceremony will include a performance from the Marine Band and mixed services color guard.

Afterward, enjoy an afternoon of events  fit for the whole family! Live music begins at 4:15pm and fireworks at 8:45pm. All events are free unless otherwise noted ($).

  • Historic Demonstration Village: Heritage Breed Animals, blacksmithing, spinners, weavers, silhouette cutter, historic clothing, historic goods, apothecary, and more!

  • Anacostia River Boat Tours (12pm – 5:30pm)
  • Battlefield Trolley Tours (1pm – 4pm)
  • Wandering Living History Performers including Francis Scott Key, Mrs. Dolley Madison, Dr. William Beanes, Commodore Joshua Barney, and more!
There is no parking (aside from bicycles) at the park. A parking map is available here. Free shuttles will run from the University of Maryland to Bladensburg Waterfront Park from 11am to 9:30pm.
